Marie Anne Isler Béguin has been a member of the European Parliament since 1991 and was Vice President of the Parliament between 1991-1994. She graduated in ecological and environmental sciences from the European Institute of Ecology in Metz (France) and has a degree in geography and regional planning (Strasbourg).
Marie Anne Isler Béguin is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy as well as the Joint Parliamentary Assembly of the Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (ACP-EU); and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Currently the Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Southern Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia), Marie Anne Isler Béguin, was also the Chief Observer for the European Union Election Observation Mission to Mauritania in 2006/2007.
